Synagogue History

The Swansea Hebrew Congregation, which is also known as Goat Street Synagogue or Ffynone Synagogue, was founded in 1730 and is situated in Ffynone, Swansea. In 1768, a plot for the congregation was granted. In 1780 the building of the first synagogue on Goat Street took place, and was rebuilt in 1859. The Goat Street synagogue was destroyed in a German air raid in February 1941 and replaced with the Ffynone Synagogue featured on this website.
